Reports and Conditions:
Fishing
Salmon River: Steelheads and brown
trout action has continued despite the high water conditions.
Drift boat trips are an attractive option with the high and
fast conditions. If fishing from shore, be mindful of the tough
spring conditions when fishing.
Hudson Valley & Catskill Trout: The creeks
are in great shape. Rainbows and browns have been
biting on spinners and the usual spring fly
patterns.
Hudson River Conditions: Striped bass
action is quite good in Piermont, Croton, and Haverstaw.
Reports of fish landed from boats have also been reported as
far north as Newburgh Bay and Beacon. With any luck,
this year's run will provide great opportunities for some big
fish.
Hiking Trips
We are in a period of transition. The
last signs of winter are fading and signs of spring are
everywhere. Trails require care this time of year.
Be mindful of slippery rock faces, mud, and other hazards
associated with wet conditions.
On a recent trip the views from atop Storm King
were phenomenal. The cool air brings both clear crisp skies
and solitude.

In addition to mountain hikes, Eagles can now be
observed in a variety of locations along the Hudson.
Other interesting birds, such as the short eared owl, may also
be seen by those looking for a local excursion. If
